Schools in the US teach the same material more or less (some will focus more on details than others and some will focus on teaching more towards boards). IMO, I don’t think it’s great to focus solely on board material because there are things you will see in practice that’s beyond boards, plus when you learn material more in depth, you will be more prepared to start prepping for boards because you have a more in-depth knowledge.Hello I'm a student currently in his third year at an eastern European medical school. I'm currently preparing for step 1 after extensive research regarding various board prep resources and exam structure. In hopes of coming to the united states I'm currently feeling somewhat insecure about the standard of education I'm receiving here as our curriculum is hardly clinically orientated and has a far heavier theory approach. With this post I have the following questions :
1. Is doing well on the step exams reflective of how well one would preform in a US medical school ?
2. Are there any medical schools who post lectures online be they in video form or pdf lectures for public access ? I'm hoping to not only prepare for the step exams rather also be able to contrast the materials taught in US schools with that of my own.
I understand that there may be a wide degree of variance when it comes to the approach various medical schools in the US have and how it contrasts to teaching to the boards and so I'm only hoping for a general consensus regarding my questions.
As far as if you do well on Step will you do well in medical school...I assume there is a correlation but there are always outliers each way. Some have horrible grades and crush boards and vice versa.
