Completed this round of application unsuccessfully (though haven't yet heard back from ALL schools). Truckin with a 2.66 overall GPA and 21AA DAT...Im thinking of applying to like 15 schools this time..just not sure which ones aside from UMD.

Any suggestions...easy schools..??

if you can get your gpa up to a 3.0 that will definitely help. temple interviewed everyone with a 3.0 and 18DAT last year. take some summer courses and get the gpa up!

It seems like there are no easy schools any more. I guess the best thing to do is go look at the office guide to dental schools book and apply to all the ones with the lowest average GPA acceptances. Make sure you exploit all things that may set you apart, like race, sexual preference, taste in popular peanut butter, whatever.

I actually graduated already in Decmeber...probably going to take 2 summer classes (maybe anatomy & phys) but no chance of increasing GPA..already got ~130 credits under my belt. Just takin the classes to look better on app.

Just gotta nail interview i guess...

You really can't rely on schools whose incoming class (from the previous year) had a low cumuluative GPA. These schools would be (now) more selective in the student body they're looking to create. This is even more true now that the competitiveness of applicants is increasing with each cycle. Just to use as an example, back in 2003, it was no secret that schools like Nova SEU and Arizona had some of the lowest average GPAs but that all changed the following year. They became more selective in their choices and focused heavily on GPAs as well as DATs.

How do I know? I was one of the lucky applicants to receive a rejection from both schools back in 2003 & 2004! I talked to both, Sue-Ann Zarrett (sp?) from Nova and I forgot the lady from AZ (actually, their apps are handled in Missouri for some reason...back then at least...I don't know about now) but they both said that they were looking to raise their incoming class's overall GPAs. Eh...whatever. 😎

I don't know about Post bacc but that may help your GPA, at least more than taking just 2 classes. You should try to get more info about programs like these. i'm no expert. 👍

Additional classes will also allow you to create a trend of A's and that may count for something. Of course, classes are expensive and time consuming...

try to add 1 or 2 real easy gen-ed classes in the summer to boost the gpa. youll need the boost to get the interview.

also, make sure you're in a position to save someone else's life by using heimlich maneuver or CPR. the best place to be is in a posh restaurant where rich folks with fat diet eat with impunity and disregards for one's life and more often than you think choke on a piece of cavier-dipped shrimp lodged in his/her bronchus.

boy, that'll shine your application like overrated diamonds.
