Easy Quantitative Reasoning Question HELP

There is this question in the Barron's DAT review book, and i'm pretty sure its just another one of the errors in the text, I was looking for some people to take a show at this easy easy easy question, and please let me know what answer they think is correct Thanx

38.

A gift of $180 is to be shared by Brett and Andrew in such a way that Andrew
gets 25% more than Brett. How much does Brett get?

A. $100
B. $72
C. $108
D. $144
E. $80


Obviously it can't be A,C,D. Please show some work. Thank You again :laugh:

x + x + 1/4x =180
2x + 1/4x =180
9/4x=180
x = 180*4/9
x = 80
As you can see choice E is correct

1) Andrew = 1.25 Brett
2) Andrew + Brett = 180

1 & 2 -> 1.25 Brett + Brett = 180
.............2.25 Brett = 180
.............Brett = 180 / 2.25 = 18000/225 = 80
E. $80 is the correct answer.
