I'm a Fil-Am and would like to eat healthy while studying in the Phillipines. What food did you live on for the four years you lived there? After reading this article
I have started to change my attitude about what I eat there.

It is very hard to eat healthy in Manila. Most of the dishes are full of meat and fat. However there are also some real healthy vegetarian dishes in filipino cuisine like kangkong, pinakbet, fresh lumpia, etc. Forget about eating healthy in 90% of the restaruants. Your best bet when trying to eat healthy in manila is eating at home. There is a wide selection of veggies and good food in local grocery stores like Greenhills and organic farmers market in salcedo village in makati. Hire a maid that can cook! If you want more insight on Filipino food check out this site. www.marketmanila.com

Peace,
Rocky
