Hello everyone, so this is my fall semester as a sophomore i started a bunch of ec's I'm wondering if i am going in the right direction so here it is:

Shadowing: 50 hours nephrologist, 50 hours cardiologist MD's and just started shadowing a Primary care DO

Clinical Experience: I started working as a Medical assistant, working like 20 hours a week. I just triage patients, explain them what their lab reports mean etc..

Research: I am doing research in genetics since June, i have a couple projects ongoing. I don't know if this counts for anything but my lab peer had done a successful project i help her put together her poster. She asked me if i wanted to help her present i was like sure ! We presented at Icahn school of Medicine in September, but i had no part in her research more in logistics really. So idk about that

Clinical volunteering: Im going to start volunteering at hospice about next week in the in patient unit got my paper work/ training done this week

Non-Clinical volenteering: I put in about 300-350 hours at my local mosque this summer giving food to hungry people during the months of Ramadan and other religious holidays. I am planning to work with refugee families in the future once i get my schedule figured out for next year

General EC: I have been part of ASBMB (American society of biochemistry and molecular biology) just go to meetings and stuff, Im doing stress busters on campus i give massages to stressed out students. I also make medical apps for doctors, i help make directories, faqs etc i make the doctors life easier and help them treat patients faster (This is incorporation with mount sinai med school)

So thats pretty much it lmk what you guys think any advice would be helpful. And a side note i had a sh** freshmen year: 3.2 cgpa 3.0 sgpa I'm doing much better now though

Your ECs are fine.

However, you're obviously spending too much time on them and not enough time on your grades. Raise them.

The activities look good. It actually looks like a lot going on a weekly basis. Remember, you don't need to check all of the premed boxes - shadowing, research, clinical, non-clinical all at the same time every semester. Do you do anything for fun? Have any time for yourself? If you do, and have your grades up, and have time for all that, more power to ya. If not - it's okay to chill out a bit.

I go fishing a lot like a i love it, gym play a lot football with friends often. I am prioritizing my grades over my ec's i will get my gpa to 3.6 over next couple semesters doing much better in school. Im probably gonna get a 3.7 plus gpa this semester, taking orgo, orgamsmic biology I'm trying my best to piece everything together
