What is the difference between ECCE, ICCE, lensectomy, and phacoemulsification?
And when do you use lensectomy?

Ill simplyfy as much as possible, others may expand:
ICCE- the lens is removed along with the capsule by grasping in some manner (ie a cryo probe) and then removed from the eye by breaking the zonules. The eye is usually left aphakic.
ECCE- the lens is removed while carefully keeping the capsule and zonules in place. The most common method is using phaco then implanting a new lens in the bag (capsule)
Lensectomy-a fragmatome is utilized to remove the lens from a posterior approach, usually as a secondary surgery to retained lens material or as a primary procedure to allow visualization to the fundus for retinal surgery.
