I know its very late but I just paid for my NRMP registration. My status says paid but "ECFMG status not verified". Will this keep me from matching or from showing up on the programs I am interested in lists?

my foreign school is slow to do things - can they keep me from matching if they do not verify? i have a permenant ECFMG status.

Unfortunately, it's very important that you get ECFMG verified BEFORE the programs start deciding who to rank. You probably have about 4 weeks tops to get this straightened out. Glad you posted this early.

If you have your ECFMG certificate already (and you probably have) your status on the NRMP web site will change from "not verified" to "verified" just in a few days after you registered at NRMP. NRMP just requests information about your ECFMG certification directly from ECFMG. NRMP verification process has nothing to do with your home medical school. You'll be fine. Good luck.

Awesome. Yes I am ECFMG certified so that all should be good.

When you sign up for the NRMP, it says that the NRMP verifies ECFMG status only once a week. So, if you're in good shape, the ECFMG status will be verified within a week.

Question:

Do you NEED to be ECFMG certified in order to certify your ROL? Or, do you just need to be ECFMG certified before the rank deadline in February?

Thanks.

I think there is a difference between being ecfmg verified and ecfmg certified. The former means that in order to qualify for ROL you will need to have passed all three exams whereas the latter means that you have not only passed the exams but have finished all required courses.

ECFMG verified basically means that you have passed Step1 and 2. The deadline is February.

ECFMG certified basically means that you have passed Step1 and 2, have an MD and an ECFMG certificate in hand. The deadline is ~ June 30th

They are two entirely different things.

Thanks for the clarification!

If my ECFMG status is VERIFIED I can go ahead and certify my ROL? Correct?
