I just want to verify the minimal amount of ECs needed to get accepted for an interview in a TX medical schools because I'm afraid my lists wouldn't look too good. As a biochemist, I feel as if there's not enough time to do a lot of ECs - that's why I'm asking the minimal amount of Ecs I should be at least be doing.

2 semesters of research
2 years of medical student association with 32 hours of community service
120 hours of shadowing 3 doctors (40hours each)
200hours of clinical volunteering (advice from previous posts mentions hours should be distributed throughout the year and a half)
tutor for a semester (once a week? debating whether I should do this)
American Red Cross for 6hours so far (community service)
basketball/pingpong with friends 2hours a week, except on test week

If I'm missing anything please do tell and please stick to reasonableness= ]. Thanks!

Yeah I think clinical experience is looked upon better if its longer duration. Meaning you shadowed for 2 years even if it was just 3 hours every weekend. Just my opinion from going through the process.

Your ECs look way better than mine! 😀

Don't worry about it. I got my only four interviews in Texas so far, and my EC list is way shorter. I am a Texas resident though. That helps a lot.

My stats aren't spectacular either so I'm sure you'll do fine.
