Hey guys, have not seen much of this.. but does anyone want to talk extracurriculars?? or would that turn into a pissing contest? I honestly don't see them much #onhere and would like to see it more. Thank you.

What exactly do you want to talk about in regards to EC?

Really I wanted to ask if my volunteer EC is okay. I have like 80 hours working in a food pantry, 100 hours in a hospital and over 600 hours mentoring freshman to retain their scholarship. I'm afraid the mentoring freshman thing may not be as great because its not helping the less fortunate. I guess what I want to know is, should I worry about this or find the closest free clinic and work my tail off getting more hours before matriculation?

Side note: I'm still going to volunteer, I love doing it, but I want to know if it should be heavy in helping the less fortunate or if I could explore other volunteer options?

Your EC hours look great. Schools will love seeing that you stayed committed in a few areas rather than hopping from activity to activity.

The "helping the less fortunate" stigma doesn't have to apply to every extracurricular activity you do. I spent my freshman year doing heavy volunteering, including working with an organization at a medical institute, but since then, most of my EC's have involved student leader work (organizing and managing programs for a cohort, supervising orientation activities, etc.).
