This may seem like a novel idea, but how about participating in an extra curricular that you actually enjoy?

Seriously, just figure out what you enjoy and do something related to it, and don't search out extra curriculars that you think will look impressive on the application. Chances are, the admissions committee won't be impressed since nearly every other applicant will have participated in similar activities.

Why are you so worried about this now? It sounds like you're about to start college - shouldn't you be more concerned about doing well in classes like O. Chem and physics before worrying about extra curriculars? Just wondering....

I recently signed up for a volunteer/unpaid internship position that's freaking easy and enjoyable. Yeah, it's a rarity. Basically it consists of being active (and possibly moderating) on a new online biotechnology forum.

Check it out here: http://bioeducenter.org/forum/

The internship is listed on JobTrak; you can probably do a search for it. Or just check out http://bioeducenter.org/premed_internship.html. There's some information about the position there.

It's listed for pre-meds so it should be right up your alley. 🙂 They're still looking for a bunch more people.
