My wife and I just found out today she was pregnant. They did an ultrasound because of previous ectopic pregnancy. The uterus showed a fetus with a heartbeat. Our concern is that on tlhe left ovary they spotted what looked like either a cyst in a fluid sac or an ectopic. What is the normal protocol for each case? Will any of actions affect the fetus in the uterus.

What did the drs say they were going to do? I am only a premed wanna be ob but I do know that I had what appeared to be a cyst on my ovary during my 2nd pg. The MW said it was the corpus luteum and was basically the follicle where the egg came from. Could it have been that. I am not a dr so someone correct me if I am wrong. I am sure if the drs were concerned they would have sat down with you.

The dr told us that the corpus luteum cyst was there and the radiologist saw some fluid around this cyst and they (the rad) were concened that with her history of ectopic it could possibly a ectopic, but nothing definite pointed to that. Our dr basicly said that the rad was covering his butt just in case. I found this out after I originally posted this thread. My dr said that if after the followup US in one week still showed no definite evidence of ectopic that he would not even worry about it any more and everything would go along normally.
