Hey all,

I have luckily been accepted to two schools and am still waiting to hear back from two waitlists. However, I am trying to decide between my two acceptances in the meantime. The most important thing to me is ensuring that I will have all of the opportunities necessary to match into a competitive or surgery-related speciality without hindering myself. As far as I have read, both schools are P/F.

ECU

Pros
  1. Cheap COA (60k/yr)
  2. Close to family
  3. Small class (86)
Cons
  1. Primary care focus (I know I want to do something surgical related), less strong of a match list
  2. Fewer research opportunities
  3. Lower step 1 pass rate from what I have seen online

SLU

Pros
  1. Better match list for surgery-related specialities
  2. More city/urban, and it's a new area that would be cool to explore
  3. Higher step 1 pass rate from what I have seen online
Cons
  1. High COA (105k/year)
  2. Far away from family
  3. Large class (175)
