Hey guys,

I did a search already but didn't find my specific question. I was paying too much attention to my PS and activities today when I submitted AMCAS and forgot to put in my parents and siblings section!

Do you think it would be worth calling AMCAS tomorrow and talking to them about this? I want the ADCOM members to know that I have three other siblings and two parents (ie i'm not alone in this world)

You can try, but AMCAS is pretty clear that there will be no editing of your application (save for sex, contact info, and DOB) once it is submitted. Given that this is a minor omission, they may not be too sympathetic. Plenty of people submit without that info and get accepted. Also remember that you can always work siblings into a secondary, and that trying to fix it now will just move your app to the bottom of the "ready for review" pile. Good luck.

Bump

-Still debating what to do. AMCAS won't change it. I am thinking I will add this info to secondaries that ask "update us on anything..." but others that don't I might just ignore it.

If anyone has any suggestions let me know.

I don't think it's a big issue, really. Don't specifically point out on your secondaries that you forgot to put it in, it'll reflect badly on your app. Just relax, as long as your PS, ECs, and numbers are intact - I'm sure it'll be fine.

Oh and I think it will look wierd if you send them info about your family on the "update us on anything" request. I think that's for new grades, ECs, etc.

Im not understanding why it is such a big deal to report your parents or siblings unless they are higher ups in something. Do they really want to know that you have parents and a brother? Im pretty sure everyone has parents, but if your dad is the president of the united states, then that might be a cause to put it down on the app, no?

unless one of your parents is faculty at a school youre applying to, or if one of them is like CEO of a fortune 500, dont bother. They dont really care that much.

Anyone else want to chime in? Possibly a current med student view that has been on the adcom before?

I don't see how med schools would care. Plus, you can't change it anyway, so it's moot. Move on.

SAME QUESTION

I added course work I was going to take in my fall quarter of senior year, but forgot to add those in the winter and spring of my last year. Do you think I should worry about this? Any way I can fix it?

You can't change your AMCAS. Try begging, but it will very likely be unsuccessful.
