I've seen in almost every forum that CT surgery has a very bleak future, but really haven't seen any editorials in journals which comment on this issue.

Can someone directly me to some recent articles which discuss this issue?

Not that I don't trust a bunch of anonymous forum posters 🙂, but I just want to see if there are any other information on this issue, because though I'm interested in this field, all the doomsday talk is scaring the crap out of me.

Great article on the subject.

That being said, I think he paints a pretty rosy picture. From what I understand, it is currently pretty difficult, relatively speaking, to find a job in private practice. One private practice CT surgeon told me that his assessment was that the market was starting to correct itself, but its still difficult finding that first job. Once you have a few years of experience, you can 'get a job anywhere in the country,' according to him.

All this stuff is subject to change. Heck, we may all be government employees by the time we're done with residency 😉 . My advice and way of looking at it is to go into what you love and what will keep you excited about work.

thanks much guys

i appreciate it
