Dear Friends,
Would anybody be able to give me an advise about this drug? I have an 86 y.o. man for TURP with CRF and difficult looking airway. Documented Hx of successful intubation recently with grade 3 laryngoscopic view and total of 3 attemps by our eldest anesthetist. This patient is a subject of the study Warfarin, Edoxaban or Placebo so I do not really know what he takes. I am trying to get hold of his family doc as I am typing this to learn a bit more about this study. Our pharmacy was not able to help. Do you think that one week is enough to do a spinal?
Thanks.

Found this on google. Drugs Fut 2009, 34(11): 861 "Edoxaban has a favorable pharmacokinetic profile in humans, reaching a maximal concentration 1-2 h after oral administration with an elimination half-life of 9-11 h, and is predominantly renally secreted. "

A week should be fine, 4 half lives would be 48 hours, but i would check with the people running the study for their recommendations. Especially since its renal excreted and your pt has CRF.

Thanks all. The study papers show half-life average 9-11 hrs. The study is Warfarin vs. Edoxaban. And LMA is fine but I would do a spinal rather if I could for this guy. Thanks again.
