Mount Sinai website says that they encourage students from underrepresented minority and educationally deprived backgrounds to apply. What is considered "educationally deprived"? Is there a definition somewhere?

In some school's website, they say that look for minorities and educationally deprived students. What does educationally deprived mean? Is there a definition? I know I am the first in my family to go to college, does that put me in that category?

Being a first generation college student is definitely a plus, but I'm not sure if that's what "educationally deprived" means.

Like your a first generation college student; or your background is in a place where education isn't emphasized etc.
