The whole thing was totally unsubstantiated. And to those people saying that this opens up a discussion about religious discrimination in medical school admissions, you haven't said anything except that it's bad.
I know this isn't the lounge, but I think if we all took a moment to be honest with ourselves we would realize that radical Islam is going to bring about the next world war. Just putting that out there.

So you're judging the BILLIONS of regular Muslims trying to get on with their lives (you know, going to medical school interviews, trying to contribute to society by healing it) by the actions of a few confused people within their religion?

You're pretty misguided and that was a disgusting statement, because you inferred the lot to be like the few.

Just putting it out there.

To be fair that guy wasn't mentioning the billions of Muslim just the radical ones. That distinction was made. But what this has to do with this thread I have no idea.

The OP didn't give a differing view from anything the interviewer would of objected to. How can you reject someone on a differing opinion if your opinions don't differ?
Except his religion and skin color probably didn't match with what the interviewer wanted. BOOM goes the dynamite.

It doesn't have anything to do with the thread, some people just like to use any chance they can get to showcase their bigotry.

Then they would reject all Muslims candidates or all brown candidates. Newsflash they don't. Newsflash they offer second interviews if it was that bad. They wouldn't have interviewed him if they weren't considering accepting him

I personally hate people that try and villanize an entire group of people as many do making outrageous claims about the amount of radical Muslims. However that person made the distinction of radical Muslims. What this has to do with the thread? No idea. Maybe potential answers to the question about ISIS!

Dude how many times do I have to say it's not an Einstein conspiracy to get rid of Muslim applicants. One interviewer did this, not the entire school.

Looking at the cached OP and nothing else, it makes sense that it was deleted. I know nothing about the OP but there's no way to substantiate anything he said. And, frankly, it wouldn't surprise me if much of that was simply misinterpretation or paraphrased in a way that doesn't reflect reality. Posting a thread that essentially bashes a school with an anecdote - the veracity of which we have no way to support - on the largest forum for pre-meds is a bad idea. The fact that the OP thought that was the best course of action leads me to believe the story likely isn't what it seems. Maybe something inappropriate was said, but the whole thing smacks of a little ridiculous.

I think there's a lot of posts that bash other schools so I don't think that's a good enough reason to delete the post, I can understand it being deleted if it started some flame war which tends to happen.

Haha my bad then man. Apology accepted?
Haha, yes

Thank you Nick. It frustrates me that something so blatantly obvious yet people don't seem to see it.

Then go for a second interview they offer it.

Haha, yes

Not many people make direct claims that a school is overtly discriminatory against certain ethnicities.

Right, go for the second interview, fine. But don't you think it's a problem if they have someone like this on their admissions committee or giving interviews? Obviously we can't draw conclusions from the original post and we shouldn't, I'm just saying that people like this shouldn't be interviewing anyone.

That's not how I took that post, I took it as that interviewer was discriminatory (assuming story is true), it doesn't reflect on the entire school.

You may interpret it that way, but, again, this is the largest forum for pre-meds, with many people coming here looking for advice and information. Having a thread on the front page of the forums that suggests that your school may have a discriminatory slant to it isn't the kind of thing you want in this kind of medium.

Besides, the most appropriate thing to do would've been to contact the office immediately. OP claims he didn't do that because he didn't want his chances at other schools hurt. That doesn't even make sense. The whole story is just whacky.

If the allegations are true then yea. But who knows if it is true or not. My guess is at the very least its exaggerated.

In fairness, as a current applicant, I've done some pretty whacky things out of neuroticism (like buying a nail buffer despite having never used one in my life because the interviewers might be inexplicably concerned with the luster of my nails). I've seen many applicants on here discuss whether adcoms at different schools talk to each other and share stories about the bad apples.

SDN's Terms of Service (TOS) and privacy policies do not allow us to discuss disciplinary actions taken against other users. However, in a desire to be open and transparent, we wanted to offer some clarification of our actions here. Moderating always carries some uncertainty as the exact authenticity of everything posted on the internet is difficult to verify. A reasonable effort is made to determine which users and threads are both appropriate for the mission of this forum and do not go against our TOS. After discussion the disciplinary action was decided to ban the account, and typically threads of newly created, banned accounts are also deleted. Recreating banned threads is of course not allowed, but in this instance I will be closing this thread so that we may be transparent in this understandably very sensitive situation. I hope you will respect the difficult decision making that goes into moderating this forum and not continue to rehash this thread.
