I searched previous threads and couldn't find this one. UCI is my state school, so tuition is less 25k vs 38k. Though, strangely, the average graduate indebtness only differs by about 12k (according to US News). Einstein is higher ranked by a little, and it has strictly pass/fail, UCI is honors/pass/fail. I liked them both when I visited...

Any advice/input would be appreciated. Thanks!

thanks to those voting! I feel more confident in my decision now... It's just that I liked both of them so much.

😉

If you have to wonder, go to Einstein. Us anteaters dont want any of you wishy-washy folk among us 😉

I got off the waitlists for these exact same 2 schools last week. The choice was really a no brainer for me. I liked einstein a lot when I was there but loved UC Irvine. Irvine isnt my top choice for places to live but then again the bronx isnt either. I like the smaller class size at irvine and everyone that I met at my interview was really nice and happy. In-state tuition doesn't hurt either (although still amazingly high). You can do well at either school but at irvine you also have nice weather.

No kidding - when I started undergrad (5 years ago), UC med tuition was $10k/year. Now its $25k/year - talk about inflation! Yikes!

UC Irvine for sure. It will be easier to get a CA residency and it is cheaper. Also better weather!

Well, UCI is making my life more difficult these days by requiring me to take another Upper Div Bio course. I'm rushing to finish it on time, so it's made the acceptance somewhat bittersweet. I can't be 100% stoked on UCI til I have this out of the way, they could still take my acceptance away! 😳

That said, I loved UCI when I visited and I'm lucky to be accepted.

Yeah I hated that req too. That made me take some classes after I already graduated. But the city of Irvine is like heaven! I spent 5 yrs undergrad at UCI. There's great weather, spacious campus, and trees all over the city. Irvine is pretty much litter free. My co-workers traveled to AECOM after we sold a mass spectrometer there and they said it was not the prettiest places in the country to say the least!

Were you a non-science major? I'm curious what this extra bio class is.

Does this mean that you have to take summer school? I took a ton of upper div bio classes so I never even paid attention to this requirement.

See you in a couple months!

I was a Design/Media Arts major at UCLA, then I did the postbacc thing at Columbia. From what I gather (talking to Gayle), I'm the only person to have had this problem in the past few years (not enough Upper Div Bio). Most of the time, it's the Biochemistry requirement that people have to do. I'm taking Genetics through "correspondence," I need to do the assignments, show up for a final exam, and have everything completed before orientation. The course itself is nice because it's flexible, but the whole ordeal is a bit stressful because it needs to be done ASAP.

At any rate, I'm really excited for med school. See you guys this fall! Yeah anteaters!
