Einstein??

Ok, I'll stop writing like a 2 year old now because you actually hit the heart of my question! Basically, I want to know why they named the school after him, because the only schools that I can think of that are named after specific people are named after philanthropists who donated a lot of money to the schools. Examples include Robert Wood Johnston, Lerner, and Joan and Sanford Weill. I am wondering if naming a school after Einstein was a gimmick for this particular school was started not too long ago (shortly after Einstein was asked to be the first PM of Israel and was very popular!).

It was named after him because he saved the life of the largest donor to yeshiva university at that time.

From a speech:
The Albert Einstein School of Medicine was founded after World War II, largely in reaction to the horrors of
that period. It was the first medical school under Jewish auspices. And
its founding principle was nondiscrimination. When Albert Einstein gave permission for the medical school to
be named after him, he said: "This enterprise is the greatest
contribution the Jewish community has undertaken for the common
weal of the American people," he was speaking of all the American people. I see the pre-
eminence of nondiscrimination being revived these days in
Washington--in the name of inclusion.

From the website also:
"His ideas changed the world forever. His face became a symbol of reason tempered by compassion. The Albert Einstein College of Medicine is proud to bear his name and legacy"

"We continue to be guided by the high academic and humanistic values exemplified by our namesake, Albert Einstein, as we shape a better future for the health of people everywhere."

i think i read somewhere that it was the only institution, organization, or anything that he gave permission to bear his name
