A large object moving at 10 m/s to the right collides with a lighter object that is initially stationary. Which of the following is a possible velocity of the lighter object after the collision?

A. 1 m/s to the right
B. 5 m/s to the right
C. 18 m/s to the right
D. 25 m/s to the right

I saw an old thread on this but I still don't understand why the answer cannot be D. Thank you.

Yes. They assume that the first mass has a velocity of 0, or the entire momentum is transferred directly to the second mass.
M1(10) = m2(x)
The answers acceptable should be x>10 so technically speaking I think both c and d are correct.
