Does anyone think that the questions in the EK 101 series are too easy? And passages too interesting? I'm not killing on the tests, but I'm a retaker and for whatever reason, I feel like the EK 101 questions are much simpler than the real MCAT's was.

I'm assuming you're talking about the EK VR right? If so, the last 4 practice tests 10-14 are harder. I actually find them harder than the AAMC tests, just because they are worded differently and ask the questions in a different manner.

I hope you're right about the difficulty. My 11 (highest yet) was on test 10! Have yet to take 11-14 since reading your comment. Saving that for the up coming week!

I'm getting MURDERED by TPR In Class compodium verbal passages though--anyone got experience with those?

I thought that EK 101 verbal passages were harder than the AAMC practice tests. I usually scored a 9 on the EK 101 verbal passages and usually scored an 11 on my AAMC practice verbals.

To each his own I suppose.

i just completed the first EK101 VR passage (first attempt at MCAT studying) and got an 11. also worried it may have been too easy/not representative... but i'm basing that on a hunch and zero previous experience.

UVA11,
I got a 10 on my first one and my scores were between 9-11 on all the tests. I got a 9 on my test because I screwed up timing. I'm certain I would have had atleast a 10 otherwise.

Hint: Don't get to the last passage with 3 mins left. And it was the easiest one on the test. Sigh...

I think EK101 is great practice in that it helps you get the timing down.

~2 questions in each test are 'wtf' esque in that they really don't make much sense and seem bogus, but the rest are gold. They capture the style pretty well and it's good practice.

Concentrate on getting the timing down, seeing how the question and answer 'traps' work and you'll be well on your way to improving.

I personally find that EK101 is useless. A lot of the "answers" are illogical. Many of the passages are not even worth reading. I would personally recommend Princeton over EK for verbal.

Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I thought EK was better than TBR, but that's not saying much. Mostly I found they're not very consistent about what you can and can't infer or assume. On question the right answer will involve making an assumption or inference that isn't necessarily directly from the passage, but then you do that on another question and the answer explanation tells you that you can't make inferences or assumptions that aren't directly implied. Quite annoying.
