EK 30min Lecture Exams vs AAMC

I didn't buy the AAMC questions, FL, etc since I just began studying. I was wondering how the EK in class 30 min lecture exams compared to the actual MCAT for those that took it. Also how the EK FL compare as well since I'm assuming they're relatively similar to the in class exams. Is the difficulty around the same as well as the question types?

Thanks for the help. I took the first one today and got 70% correct on physics lecture 1 exam. I haven't done any physics practice problems before that but I definitely thought the passages make the overall questions harder.

Overal the 30 min exams are, in my opinion, much harder and subjective than AAMC stuff. They are somewhat representative (especially Bio)

I cant speak for their FL's



Make sure you supplement your CARS and Psych if you plan on using exclusively EK. I would also highly recommend doing the AAMC stuff as well. (all of it)

I plan on buying all the AAMC stuff, I was just waiting to finish the content review part. Also have TPR for psych as another source and I'll probably get another one for CARS...which would you recommend?

I actually find that EK has a good approach to CARS, but it's true that you'd need to supplement with additional practice material. You could use their 101 passages book or TPR's verbal workbook (which you could buy secondhand online). But using old AAMC exams or buying the CARS question packs will make for the best practice.

I really like TPR's verbal workbook. With the EK 101 (assuming you have it) and AAMC stuff, I think that should be sufficient.

I think my average for the EK physics 30 min lecutures is around 124... chem is around 126, in any case I'm dreading the PS section and hoping it has a big emphasis on Biochem, as I've just taken a Biochem class and typically score really well on anything that has to due with metabolism, enzymes, or up/deregulation.

I think if you just look at material, EK is definitely harder. But you can't go by their scoring system for the 30 minute exams. They are just guessing. In terms of material, EK's bio, chem, and physics 30 minute exams are good practice for both material and timing. Psych/Soc is not enough and way too easy. CARS I actually thought was good, but I didn't end up really using a "method." I just read fast and forced myself to stay focused.

the official guide 4th edition has around 20 passages
