ekg leads

two questions

first what color leads go where on a pt in the OR talking about the three leads... green white brown maybe.... also is there an acroynm to remember this by....

second more importantly... i remb being told this once... what ekg leads correspond with which arteries.. . like V1 to LAD... does anyone know this???

inferior wall (RCA) II, III, aVF
anterior wall (LAD) I, aVL, V1-6
lateral (LCX) I, aVL, V5-6
posterior (LCX or RCA) have to see reciprocal changes in v1, V2 (big R in V1)

Dryacku - try to fit in a cardiology rotation MS4 year - the leads/ arteries thing should make sense, something that you shouldn't rely soley on memory for. If you cant squeeze it in, maybe read dubin or another short ekg book - there is no downside of being able to interpret an ekg (or at least the basics)

Dryacku - try to fit in a cardiology rotation MS4 year - the leads/ arteries thing should make sense, something that you shouldn't rely soley on memory for. Smoke over fire, white on right, snow over grass. That's the way I learned it in med school. Your gallbladder one works too.

green means go (gas pedal)
red means stop (brake pedal)

it doesn't matter where the green one goes - it is just the grounding lead...

white on right, black on left, red is lead 5 and green is what's left over so it goes on the lower right side...pretty easy

this is absolutely true - you can put the green one anywhere on the R side(actually anywhere on the body as long as it's not touching another lead or anything else)

so next time go ahead and place the green lead on the shoulder and when your attending gripes at you - point out to them that it's a grounding lead and can be placed anywhere to an extent without interfering with the accurateness of the strip 😀
