Does anyone know a good resource for finding programs that take applications from IMG(2B)'s for clinical rotation electives? I'm so bummed when I check out a program's website and fall in love, then read the fine print.... Also, anyone know what is up with programs that don't take IMG's for electives but have IMG residents? Is it just a numbers thing?

well, about the IMG Resident-IMG Student thing...i know here in Chicago, there are a handful of hospitals like that. They have many IMG residents, but they never accept any IMG students to rotate. The reason for this is that they already have AMG students (Northwestern, UIC, Rush) rotating through their wards. They don't want to create a mess by having students with different backgrounds and possibly even different standards of learning.

Beyond that, they also have specific contracts with the schools whose students rotate there.

0therwise, the best thing to do is to approach the places you are interested in and ask them if you can arrange the rotations directly through the hospitals. Community hospitals have a higher likelyhood of accepting you than University programs that already have their own students, but you never know til you try. Youve got nothing to lose.

cheers
