elective urology

does anyone know of any books that would be helpful during an elective in urology???any hand books any thing???

I would use either Urology Secrets or Smith's Urology for an elective rotation. I have used them in the past, and found them to be pretty good. I think Campbell's is way way too in depth for just a rotation..and way too expensive.

Try out the first two...really good at "quick hits" and concise info...

Read urology secrets cover-to-cover and use smiths as a daily reference. If you have to do any presentations, campbells is the bible of urology--you can find the full text on mdconsult.com. There is a great list of urology links (again, useful for a presentation) on www.urologymatch.com.

During elective urology, especially if you are awake for the procedure (e.g. outpatient vasectomy), I recommend reading, "The Stream", edited by I.P. Freely, which is a beautiful collection of short stories from various authors. In that book, my favorite is "The Urgent and the Frequent", written by B.P. Heche, about a hesitant man whose sadness and tears dribble over into all aspects of his life, leaving him with incomplete emotional feeling. The AUA recently gave the work >7 stars and writes, "Read it after your PSA check, and it will change your life!"
