Hi every one. I just matched for a PGY 1 position and I was asked by my program to choose electives. I would like to be a pediatric hospitalist in future and I was wondering what electives should I focus on.
From what I researched on , I know it has to be more of inpatient rotation / anesthesiology/ EM.
My program gave me the following list: Pediatric Infectious Disease
Pediatric Cardiology ,Pediatric Endocrinology, Pediatric Gastroenterology, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, Pediatric Nephrology,Pediatric Neurology, Pediatric Pulmonology. Considering this list what should I choose in line with Pediatric hospitalist.

Would be grateful if someone could help me out!!

Any are going to be okay. They won't be your only electives in residency, and each one will be beneficial going forward either in patient care or for board prep eventually. You'll be best served by asking the upper level residents at your program which section has the best teachers - that will be the most helpful.

it really doesn't matter, any of those specialties are useful and pretty much all residents will see all of them by the time they finish - so it's just a matter of what do you want to do now. Pick the one you have the most interest in and go with that.
