Why and how does electronegativity reduce nucleophilocity?
 
The more electronegative the atom is the more it wants electrons, so it is electrophilic. This is the opposite of nucleophilic, which is when it wants a nucleus (proton).

The electrophile is the lewis base, and the nucleophile is the lewis acid.
