So if I have methyl benzene, and I brominate it, will it add the Br to the ortho or para.
I think it would be para, but Crack is saying ortho? Isnt methyl a weak activating o/p

it would be a mixture of othro and para but if I had to choose 1 I would pick p-bromotoluene since bromine is large and it would be less sterically hindered in para but thats just my opinion

yes mehyl is ortho/para but I guess inductive effect stabilize ortho more than para
