S8 + 8 O2 → 8 SO2
this was on AAMC 3, i always learned that combustion produces CO2 and H2O so I missed it.

Are there any other elements that does this? I would assume all in the sulfur family?

Also about UV spec, what else do I need to know other than that it helps detect conjugated DBs? The TBR stuff is really dense about UV and it seems that every time it comes up on the AAMCs its something really basic.

Complete combustion of hydrocarbons produces CO2 and H2O. If you think about it, if you're burning sulfur in oxygen, you don't have a carbon source and thus will make no CO2 and you don't have a hydrogen source so you'll make no water.

The basic idea in combustion is that an oxidation/reduction reaction takes place - typically oxygen being reduced.

lol... wow how dumb was I that makes perfect sense, thanks lol.. one of those applied too much of what I know scenarios.

thank you so much!
