Has anyone done a 4th year clerkship at LA County-USC for ER?? If so, can you please provide me with some information on it??

I received paperwork that required not only a personal statement, but a concise CV and a letter of recommendation from an ER physician.

Any advice or words of wisdom would be much appreciated.....FYI, I'm a 3rd year DO medical student, it's like I'm on the outside (way outside) and looking in...

Thanks.

i had one hell of a time at LAC-USC.. 😀

of course.. i was a USC med student.. so i didn't need any of the paperwork requirements.. but basically.. since they get tons of request from students wanting to rotate through the ED.. you need to basically apply for rotation.. only serious EM applicants are usually considered

Huh. The personal statement and rec weren't required last year... are you sure you don't mean Harbor-UCLA? Well. If it's not too hard, I'd do it. C-booth is worth it.

I think u mean harbor ucla b/c i sent in my application to rotate last month for usc and i dont recall any information on a CV or Letter of Rec. Your school needs to send in a ton of stuff but all they required from me was money and a form to fill out. Harbor ucla definitely needs a cv and a letter of rec....i was actually looking at their form last night. Good luck trying to get a rotation...they havent been the friendliest. I have been calling them for a month to ask one simple question...no one has returned my call. I called someone else instead and actually got reemed out for calling and bothering her. I apologized like crazy...but she was so busy screaming at me i doubt she heard it. I dont think i have ever apologized to someone for their lack of returning my phone calls. Im still a little confused by it.

No she/he means LAC-USC aka c-booth....I'm applying to do a rotation there as well, c-booth requires apart from the standard website application CV, personal statement, and letter of rec from EM advisor or someone that can vouch for your seriousness with respect to applying for EM as a career.

email the dept of emerg med and they will let you know exactly what is required of you...

all the best...
