EM/IM/Peds Combined Residency

With all the different permutations available of combined programs why isn't EM/IM/Peds a thing yet? Seems to me like it would produce a kick ass doctor. Was this ever a thing?

EM/FM exists and is probably the closest. The reason EM/IM and EM/peds combined programs exist are historical - basically it was required for EM to be able to have an independent board, rather than a board composed of other specialties. People go into them for other reasons, obviously, but they were created so that EM could be an independent specialty, not really to fill an unmet training need.
