I will be applying EM/IM with a backup in IM.
Currently, I have 2 EM rotations set-up fro August and September, with one of them being an EM/IM rotation.
As for IM, I have a sub-I in July and plan to get a letter from that rotation. I will have one more IM letter from a former PD and current clinical faculty from my 3rd year IM rotation this month.

I will have 2 SLORS and an IM letter for EM/IM. But, I am little worried about not having enough letters for just the IM portion of my application. I will have 2 IM letters and 1 Peds letter (from MSIII).

Would doing an IM sub-I in october be too late for a letter to add to my IM application?

Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I was asking if I would have enough letters for the IM application as most people apply for EM or IM as a backup since EM/IM spots are limited.

You should be fine from the IM side too. A 4th year IM sub-I letter and a 3rd year IM letter should be sufficient but I would say ditch the Peds letter. Most IM programs wanted a chair or IM PD letter anyway so you need to look into that as your 3rd letter. Our IM clerkship director wrote everyone going into IM a letter that the chairman would co-sign after meeting with you for 30-45 min so he could decide if he had anything extra to add.if you don't have this it could limit the places you get solid looks from.
