EM now "Co-hosted" with Iowa?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Maybe they're sponsoring us. Like Nissan does the Heisman, and Hardee's does the Clemson/Carolina game.

Brought to you by the University of Wisconsin

one of the forum members(pacmatt/corpsmanup) is a pgy1 there....I'm guessing he has something to do with it.....

Or the TDBankNorth Center?

AKA the BOSTON GARDEN....grrrr....

Seriously, what does this mean in terms of the objectivity and neutrality of the forum. I guess the best way to find out is to post something really inflammatory about the Iowa program and see what happens. Hopefully Lee or Dr. Mom will give us some idea what is up with this.

I'm from Minnesota (and I'll be going to PA school in Illinois), so if we're saying stuff about Iowa, maybe I'm nominated.

But first, what's with the new buttons above my post-composing window? I can add a link right to a YouTube video? Whoa. What will they think of next? In MY day, we had to get up to change the channels! We had to go indoors to use the phone! AND WE LIKED IT!

IOWA is like the suckiest program ever! No wonder they have to sponsor the forum! Their residents were drug out from under a dumpster behind the hospital and their ED consists of 4 gurneys in a broom closet!

(Think that'll do it?)

They're an institutional partner, simply meaning they recognize the value of SDN to the healthcare community. In return for their official recognition, we provide a link to their department's site at MedRounds.

They have no oversight or input over the site content nor do they have access to the member database.

Thanks for the answer. The deal sounds fairly sweet for SDN. As long as they can't hunt us down or censure our posts, I'm happy. Hopefully, this forum will continue to be productive.

Although the UofI department would be more than welcome to re-vitalize the journal club. Maybe a pedi EM article?

Does this mean the EM forums might have enougth money to make some pens or laser pointers, or other really cool stuff? I could really use a new pen - especially if it is blue and white with the SDN EM Forum logo...

Okay, after discussing this with my program director, he was not even aware that this link or co-hosting even existed. He has asked me to detail this in a response to the thread. The link should probably more appropriately be titled something different because it in fact does NOT take you to our program website at all. It instead takes you to medrounds.org, which although our department participates in, is not the same thing as our EM program. This is likely something our 3rd year Dr. Hendi is doing to get input for her research with Podcasts. I will PM Lee and see if I can get to the bottom of it and clear things up a bit more.

After we had been approached with this request to co-host, SDN requested specific clearance for use of the institutional name before posting it here. We received clearance a few weeks ago.

Possibly the clearance was not checked at the appropriate levels at their institution. In the meantime I've pulled the 'co-hosting' status while they review it.

And the (giggle) Yum! brands Kentucky Derby/Triple Crown series (seriously, Visa sounded way cooler-Yum just sounds like if the horse doesn't win, place, or show they're going to end up in the hot-dogs lol)

My intern and PGY2 class just got back from Vegas for our retreat. we went to the USC Essentials of EM course and I must say, I would definitely be okay with In-and-Out Burger sponsoring the EM forum!! That place is freaking awesome and should spread east as soon as humanly possible!!

The same reason why it's so awesome is why it won't/can't spread - the ingredients are shipped from a central location, and where you see In and Out is the limit of where they can get things within the time frame for the things to be the way you want it. Does that make sense? It's a geographic thing.

They don't freeze anything, which is why there's a distance limit. http://www.in-n-out.com/freshness.asp

Yeah, Gamecock fans know their fast food.
Anyway, it seems that even if they didn't want to freeze their food, there are cows, cheese, and lettuce in other places of the country, and that wouldn't require freezing either. They could have multiple satellite headquarters.

I've yet to have an In-N-Out, but if it's anywhere near as good as the varsity, then it will be good eats.

I was developing my base while EMT/Paramedic in Buffalo, student in NYC, and resident in Durham; here in G-Vegas, I've actually tapered off a bit.

And, no matter what you say (as valid as it is), nothing succeeds like success, so that's why In-N-Out is as successful as they are.

Steak-N-Shake has a slightly - slightly - similar model.

(Yikes - I'm running the risk of exposing my encyclopedic knowledge of the fast-food industry. Good thing it's not my encyclopedic knowleged of another industry.)

Another industry... like, um, say... strip clubs?😀

*snort* lol. hmmmm....<hamster runs wildly on wheel>

Dunno-hotdogs in the infield are a tradition on Derby day. Although I guess we should be technically correct and ask "are those Brother Derek Wings?" or "are these Ouiia Board burritos?" 😉

(ok, ok, in her defense Ouija Board didn't run in the major T.C. races and she's had quite the year)

Hey, that's right... in the greater Chicagoland area, I'll be able to rotate at the Steak N' Shake program! Niiiice.

What about Hot 'N Now
