This is to all nervous SDNers wondering where are all of their interview invites:
Recently I emailed 4 schools of which I had stats above their averages saying something along the line of 'i been complete at your school since X date in Oct or Sept, when will I know about any action on my admissions status"
2 schools responded to me with invites
UCSD - almost real-time their secretary responded to me saying I had been approved for interview
Mt Sinai - a week later responded to me with invite
good luck to all who are still waiting

i emailed a school yesterday night cuz i didnt know if they got my letters and this morning i got "your letter is complete...is being reviewed..." and 4 hours later (their time), i got an email inviting me for my very 1st interview!!!! yay!!!
i love this forum, if i did not read it, i wouldnt have emailed, and may never have gotten an invite.

YAY THANKS ALL WHO POSTED THEIR STORIES!!!

I emailed a few schools yesterday and I have heard back from them. They all said that "reviewing applications takes time.", "We offer interviews from X to Y.", etc. No new news for me.

I don't think the people that respond to these emails have the power to give out interview invites. It's possible that you have already been invited, but they're just being slow to tell you about it. By emailing them, you found out about your invite faster.

Anyhow, this method didn't work for me at Stanford and WashU 😳

I agree with this. You guys were already getting interviews, you just happened to email them before they sent their official notices. I'm not saying one shouldn't email or call to get status, but I don't believe they decided to give people interviews because they called. You guys got interviews because you're good applicants and you deserve further review. Not because you know how to use your phone or computer. 😉

Just worked for me at Wake Forest. They responded within 30 minutes. Efficient!

i think maybe calling or emailing may show extra interest......i just called jefferson to check my status and ask when the committee meets and the guy asked me whether i was available anytime if i get an interview and took down my phone number. i dont think it means anything cause he was really really nice, but i guess i tried my best to show interest in taht school.

I've had this experience too. I don't think we increase our chances of getting an interview by emailing them, but I do think that admissions offices are far less organized than we believe them to be. For all we know, our files could have been sitting in some random pile, collecting dust, and it's our emails that made them 'remember' that we needed to be sent interviews. At least, that's my theory for the one school that i emailed.

I e-mailed a bunch of schools about a month ago to check on my status. Only about 1/2 responded, and they just said my file was complete and awaiting review. So a week later I called the other schools, and was told the same thing--no invites. 🙁 I'm thinking Mon maybe I'll call again, I don't want to be annoying but I can't believe that out of 14 schools my file is complete at, not one can be bothered to actually review my application. This is getting ridiculous, my file has been complete for 1.5 months at all of these schools (since the Aug MCAT scores were released) and I still haven't heard anything.

someone i know got a pitt and a ucsd interview doing this a week or so ago. it didnt work for me at pitt or northwestern. for people complete at ucsd, i think this is a good idea to try. the adcom office is nice anyhow, and it cant really hurt.
