Hi all. Now I know that most schools say "do not call or email regarding the status of your application" but I applied to all my schools at the same time and have already interviewed and been accepted to Columbia, interviewed at Stonybrook, and interviewed at Touro. The only school I have yet to hear back from is Buffalo as the status is still stuck on Received/Under Review. My Columbia deposit deadline is 2/8 and I am wondering if it is okay to email Buffalo saying I would love to hear back from them before I have to start putting down deposits for other schools. Is this a thing people do or am I just going to have to put a 3,000$ deposit down and risk losing it if i get an acceptance to Buffalo.

I don't think it would hurt to ask. But I think at this point in time, you'd have to put the deposit down because if you got an invite let's say next week, you most likely wouldn't know if you were accepted before 2/8 deadline. Best bet would be on Stony Brook/Touro if you wanted to attended there over Columbia

You could potentially ask them about the status of your application. I think Buffalo interviews are coming to a close though so I would still put down the deposit for Columbia.

Call the school, explain your situation - it wont affect your application in a negative way. Moat likely you will not het a straight answer and thus I’d recommend putting the deposit to Columbia 🙂
