I recently joined emcare. Im quite interested in the experience of other EMCARE docs. So far my experience can be summarized as if playing the TV show "LOST" for real.
here is a riddle for any one posting here. "why do they put bells on cows"!!

We have a couple of our locum tenens guys work for EMCare. They seem to like it. As you know, we have a relationship with TeamHealth at our program. Those that have worked for both say they are "very different but both very good." Obviously if one has an innate disdain for CMGs then you'll never like them. From my standpoint, one can really learn a lot from the big CMGs, like TeamHealth, mainly because they've just gathered so much information on the practice of EM, and now its coming to fruition.

EmCare uses several different models for it's employees. I work for a very well defined group that is overseen by EmCare. We do all of our own hiring, staffing and arrange our reimbursement structure. They cover our med mal, compliance, risk mgmt, billing and so forth. There are places where EmCare got a contract and then sets up a group de novo to staff it or staffs it with independent contractors. In those cases I can believe that you feel like you're on your own.
