Tomorrow I am signed up to take the USMLE step 1. I already took the comlex and made a 497 after being so nervous I literally didn't sleep the night before. Now I'm nervous about the step 1. I've only been averaging 58% on USMLE World. I don't know what to do. Should I take the exam and not send it in if I don't think I did well? I want to get into a neurology program, and I don't care if its MD or DO. Any advice or encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

There really aren't that many osteopathic neurology residencies, so I would suggest taking the exam and turning it in. You are probably going to have to apply for allopathic residencies, and some do not accept comlex alone. Would it be possible for you to take the exam at another time when you are less stressed?

Well I'm worried I'll even pass the exam. I don't think I can take it another time, because I'm in my third year rotations and getting to a point where I can no longer take the time from my rotation study time to do this.

🙄

well remember everything you've read about the step one being more 2nd or 3rd level reasoning? its bs, its the same thing as the comlex, but with biochem instead of opp. otherwise no difference, it wasn't that bad. really, just know FA and you can pass w.o a problem

Who cares how you did on USMLE World?

It's unrelated to your score on the real thing. Just take it and send it in.

I wouldn't want a neurologist having such little confidence with me if I were a patient....
