can anyone tell me about their experience with emory? I am thinking about adding them to my list of schools to apply to. I have checked out the website but thought I would get more feedback from someone who has already applied. any info would be greatly appreciated thanks!!

Don't you think it is way too late to add them on MCAS now? OR are you talking about 2005?

Im guessing youre talking about next year. I would definitely add them since I was very pleasantly surprised when I went there, and its not something you would get from looking at the rankings or reading books. Im guessing as youre a Michigan resident you will be applying to UM, Michigan St, Wayne State, WashU, and some Chicago schools as well?

I'd say yes. Grady Hospital is a great place to learn from what I've heard.

I will be applying to med school in 05. when I said I was adding them to my list I meant to the list of schools that I plan to apply to, sorry if I confused anyone. where is WashU, is this in washington? and yes I plan to apply to those surrounding areas if they meet the criteria that I'm looking for. just thought I would start jotting down some schools that I was interested in applying to! anyone else have any information? thanks again to the ones who already responded!!

why do they call the school washu? plz forgive my ignorance!!

Washington University in St. Louis. WashU for short.

oh ok!! thanks. all these different schools make you want to research them before applying otherwise you won't know where you're applying to!!!

I recommend ordering AMSAR from AAMC. It will give you a nice overview of all 125 US and Canadian schools. I think it's only MD schools, though.

Emory's main training hospital, Gradys hospital, is county-funded but is a universal-access hospital. Basically they'll treat anyone that walks in, even non-citizens.

That's why they get to see diseases like TB and Malaria from patients overseas...this opportunity is not available in most other places.

Yeah, I think it's named after George Wash, but GW was already taken by a certain school in DC. See, now I'm just making up history.

SISTAHNIK: does your name by chance come from the same root as sistahkrys and sistahra?

if I understand you correctly, yes.
