Hello,

I have been trying to decide between U Pitt and Emory. I want to study health education and promotion. I am from Pittsburgh so at U Pitt I could have instate tuition and live at home, but I am worried about internships and finding a job after. Emory seems to have great opportunities for internships and job placement, but I worry about moving, and the cost of living in Atlanta. Any advice?

Going to Pitt would be cheaper for you but in the long-run Emory will help you with future job prospects. The Emory name will be with your forever. Emory is not located in a very expensive part of Atlanta and the CDC affiliations will be a great help for you.

Having said that, my friend went to Pitt (MHA) and received a job offer before graduation. Pitt's affiliation with UPMC hospitals will be an asset to you as well. It's definitely cheaper to live in Pitt but Atlanta isn't too costly either. It will also give you a change of scenery.

I'm a first year Epi MPH at Emory and I guarantee you would not regret a decision to come here. If you have any questions I'd be happy to answer them. You'll probably have better luck sending me a private message as I'm unlikely to check this thread again.
