Emory

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I received an invitation to interview with them about a week ago.

Same here still waiting, hopefully we hear something soon!

Yes it did! Unfortunately I don't have any other information to give you guys other than that the interview date is January 15, 2016 from 8am - 4pm.

I got mine email today as well for the January 22nd interview. Does anyone know when in June enrollment would be?

I also received one for the 22nd!

Besides those above (congrats!) has anyone heard back from Emory? I got an email from them about two weeks ago saying they're still actively reviewing my application :/

I think their two interview dates are/were the 15th and 22nd. I could be mistaken but when I was there last Friday they only mentioned one other interview date which was this coming Friday. But don't be discouraged because I got that same email yet found out about my interview with very short notice!

Is it better to interview on the first date or the last date? Is it random or is there some method of dividing up the applicants? Will they wait for all of the interviews to decide? Was it a rolling admission? I'm talking about Emory but it applies to GSU too I suppose. Does Emory or GSU have early decision? For those of you who have done that there do you recommend it (if that is, they have it.) Sorry about the question overload.

I wouldn't say it's necessarily better if you interview first or last day, but you often times hear back sooner if you interview earlier. I would imagine they look at applicants in the order that they receive the application, so those submitting earlier will hear back sooner. I've heard that Emory will wait and review all applicants before deciding. GSU will get back to you within the following week if you're accepted. GSU now has a priority deadline that is basically an "early action," and I would say that the only things you could accomplish between the deadline for the priority deadline and hard deadline is to take or retake your GREs or add to your extracurriculars. Hopefully this helps to answer some of your questions!

I have a question, hopefully you can give me some insight. I interviewed at Emory on 1/22 ... they told us that it would be 3 - 5 weeks before we received notifications of admission. I have a few friends that received acceptances last week from Emory. I have not heard anything, and Emory is tied with Duke for my #1. Just received an acceptance from Duke and trying to decide whether to go ahead and send my deposit in .... its $1000 ....ugh!!! I guess my question is ... do you know why they send some acceptances out and not others? Does the delay mean I am basically on the wait list?

I understand everyone's frustration about timing of the acceptance letters - keep in mind that it's a committee of 4-5 faculty that have to meet and review every single one of the 200 interviewees. It takes time. I saw all of them this past week at CSM and it's a process that they are still in the middle of - each of them has to be at every meeting for them to continue. In a nut shell, be patient
