I am NREMT-B. I was wondering where to put this on the application. I haven't worked as an actual emt, but have had several jobs where it was a requirement. It doesn't really stand out on my app that I am an EMT. Should I put it in extracurricular or is that it is listed under coursework enough? thanks

I would just mention that you trained and received EMT-B certification under extracurricular. I think I went on to mention how many hours of clinical experience I had, as well as what kind.

I put my EMT course (it was at a community college) in the course work a separate school with a grade and such. Then I put the ambulance service I worked for under my jobs. Finally I worked in a peds ER as an EMT on a volunteer basis and put that in my extracurriculars.
Dont worry, they will see it..if not mention it as clinical experience. Just dont harp to much on it, they may not care as much, it depends on the people who are talking to you.

I don't really remember, but does the AACOMAS have a general "skills/qualifications" type section? If not, just make sure to mention in your job descriptions (aka why it is significant to your future as a physician) that you were actually certified. "As a certified yadda yadda yadda..." and they will get the point.

I wouldn't put it in extracurricular unless you did something else with it that didn't fit in the work experience category. For mine, I listed the coursework and then listed non EMT jobs that required the certification in work experiences.
