Ok...so I just read the Thread on EMT IS IT WORTH IT...and I was about to take the EMT class. I would like it to boost my resume, and help me get onto ski patrol... However, I could just take the OEC (Outdoor Emergency Care) class and join ski patrol with out becoming an EMT-B....

MY QUESTION: Would you say just go for OEC, or definately go for EMT-B??? 😕

It all depends what you want to do with the certification. If you plan to work/volunteer as an EMT and think it's something you'd enjoy, definitely go for it. I worked for many years as an EMT and absolutely loved it. If you aren't really into it, though, I'm not sure I'd recommend it just as a resume booster, especially if a less intensive course like the OEC will get you onto ski patrol, and it sounds like that (ski patrol) is your true passion and ultimate goal. The EMT course is pretty heavy, especially if you're doing classes...I took the EMT-I course, so I am not totally sure how long EMT-B is, but I think it's not too much less than EMT-I, which was 350+ hours.

Ultimately, do what you think you'd enjoy, not just about what you think looks good. Ski patrol will look just as good as EMT, and you'll have great stories and experiences if you love doing it.
