Ok guys I’m interested in taking this route. A pharmacist who I currently work with, told me, about her friend. (New york city) Who was an E.M.T for a while, until doctors told him, you take good care of the patients. Long story short they wrote him letter of recommendation to SUNY downstate and fast forword he in his 3 year residency.

I’m dieing to become an trauma surgeon I know it in my DNA.

Share thoughts on this also it will help me get a good feel of the sitiuation. I’m going start training next month while I’m doing my BS in poli science

If you want to become an EMT then do it. But don't do it because you heard some anecdotal story about some guy who was an EMT and then became a physician. I'm sure some physician was an opera singer before medical school. That doesn't mean you should try to follow that path. The path to medical school is pretty well defined: Get excellent grades, do well on the MCAT, complete the prereqs, show altruism (e.g. volunteer), show you know what the medical field is about (e.g. shadowing and clinical volunteering/employment), try to get leadership experience, try to get some research experience, apply early.

EMT experience can fulfill some of those categories, but it is by no means the only way or the best way.

I know everyone path is different but my only goal in life to be trauma surgeon. And being EMT will give me some experience. I honestly love the setting.

1) it's great to have ambitions and goals.
2) a not insignificant number of medical students end up in a residency/career different than what they entered med school thinking they'd do.
3) Trauma Surg. means matching into a surgical residency and then a trauma fellowship. It's not hard, but isn't easy. Would you be happy in any other specialty/sub-specialty?
4) There isn't much experience overlap between EMT and trauma other than the acute care aspect. If you haven't shadowed in trauma, I would recommend that.
5) good luck.

I'm an EMT and Trauma Tech currently, just accepted to a few medical schools. If you have any questions in particular, you can PM me!
