EMT training?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hey,
Getting an EMT certification is a definite plus. I got mine a little over a year ago. If you work as an EMT, you get a lot of patient exposure.
Even if you just get the certification and don't work as one, you still get a lot of important life saving training that you wouldn't get otherwise and I think adcoms would like that.

Also, its something unique that you could possibly talk about with adcoms at your interview!

Hope this helps

As a pre-dental student, would becoming EMT certified be a "plus" to my list of extracurriculars? Just concerned because usually pre-med students are the ones becoming EMTs... What do you think?

If your only concern is to get an additional gold star for your chart, then your novel idea may be of questionable merit; the certification may be more valuable after an acceptance in case one of the profs with an old ticker needs some help with the defibrillator on the clinic wall that has only been useful for collecting dust.
