There's some schools I'd really like to be invited to visit, but I haven't heard from them yet, despite sending in my secondaries in early sept. I was wondering if there was anything else I could do beside sit and wait. I know calling is one option, but it doesn't seem to have helped me. Should I try writing them letters expressing my interest? If so, is there anything in particular I should be saying? Or, is there a better idea? Thanks.

I'd hate to answer your question with "here, here," but I'm in the same boat. Unfortunately, the nature of this process is such that we have little or no control. As helliferous (I just made up that word) as it can be, just wait. A good cure is to buy big expensive things over the internet. That way, some of your waiting anxiety gets transferred from med school to toys.

Rock on jonnym.

I have the exact same problem. I'm married with a 2 month old to think about and I don't want to be in the position of having to relocate last minute with everyone in tow because I interviewed late (that's if I interview). I'd almost rather have an early rejection than a late acceptance because I may not be able to move so quickly. I'm a planner and I want to make arrangements with more than a month's worth of notice.

Ditto! Ditto ditto! Ditto ditto ditto! 😛
One thing I did do recently was have another recommendation sent in, by the head of the lab that I started working at this fall. It's definitely a new thing to add to the file, and a REALLY good person from whom to get a reference 😀 I'm thinking about doing my "just to update my file" letter soon after the recommendation is sent out next week. Or should I wait until after some more key interviews (read: interviews by schools higher on my list)?
I've also thought about writing a letter of intent to NYU- my guess is that I won't even get an interview there, but it's by far my top choice. Might help?😕

Don't forget to get your fall's semester transcript sent in. If they are good, they could help your case.

hey all...

i'm in the same both with a bunch of schools, and I'm not sure what to do exactly!

Should I

1) Send out LOI to all of the schools i care about

2) send extra recommendations

3) A combination of 1 & 2.

Do you think it's wise to send an LOI to multiple schools? .....please help me out!!! Thank you!
