Energy of waves when it hits a dense medium

Hi everyone,
I was wondering what happens exactly when a wave (transverse) hits a dense medium. I know that some of the energy gets reflected while others refracted and this is what causes the decrease in intensity.

What I don't understand is how the wave continues to travel at the same frequency when it gets refracted into the next medium if it has lost energy due to reflection. I thought energy of a wave was proportional to its frequency which would mean it can't have the same frequency after losing some of it?

frequency is always constant is what i remember. Focusing on the v = lamba x f will keep you straight. velocity is a property of the medium which is went from light---> dense. speed will change.

I thought E=hf is for photon energy.
 
when a wave refract into a denser medium the speed of the wave will decrease, the wavelength will decrease and so will the wave intensity. Frequency remains unchanged.
