I am not a dentist yet, but I am majoring in chemical engineering and applied this cycle. One of the dentists that I shadowed majored in engineering as well which was really reassuring 🙂

Looking back I would still do it again just because engineering is more about developing technical problem solving skills and learning how to manage a difficult courseload then anything else. And, during my interviews, I received a lot of compliments for choosing to major in such a hard field. Also, it is a great backup plan in case dental school didn't work out since clearly there is still a high need for engineers in industry, laboratories, etc. If I were you I would definitely stick with it.
