Hello,

I am an engineer working on a project involving psychophysiological measurements. I am looking for the correct term of the bone that could be sensed in the neck.
It is located about the same hight than the shoulders on the backside of the neck. When you move your head down, it is even clearly visible.
Sorry, I am a bit stuck with the anatomy here, and really hope you know what i mean and can help me out. I just need to know the lexical term for that bony part ...

Is it the spinous process or the Vertebra prominens (or is this the same?)? Or am I totally wrong here?

I really think this might be quite a dumb question, but you'll really help me out ...
Therefore, thank you sooo much in advance!

The bony part you are talking about is the spinous process of the seventh cervical vertebra (for most people but it can also be C6 or T1).

Thank you so much DHT for this fast and helpful reply! Great! Have a nice day!

They are one in the same.

You should also look into the "clay shoveler's fracture." I have no idea of your interest in this specific anatomical area, but possibly this would be of some benefit???
