Hi Everyone,

I'm still waiting to hear about a possible interview from five schools. I'd like to send the schools an update, but I'm not sure if this is enough/how it will be received.

1. Recent paper submission [currently under review]. I'm a middle author and contributed by gathering data, analyzing data, and editing the manuscript.
2. Recently signed up for a human physiology course [did not take one in undergrad] that I will complete by May 2017.

I'm very fortunate to have had three interviews already, but since I don't have an acceptance anywhere yet [no decision from any of the three schools], I'm becoming a bit anxious.

Thank you for your time & thoughts!

Sorry, but these two points are not "Update-Worthy."

Instead, I suggest updating involvement in current activities relevant to your application and a statement of continued interest in the school (along with specific reasons, if not recently communicated). If your last update didn't include recent final grades and you have some, they can be added, if they reflect well on you, along with course titles, especially if they are med school-like classes.

If your manuscript is accepted, that will be worthy of an update in the future.

You really think that the Admissions dean is going to run screaming to the Adcom saying "We have to accept this kid!!! They just submitted a paper!!!!!!"

???

Neither are worthy of an update. I could write something in crayon on a brown paper bag, send it to Nature, and it's also a "manuscript in submission".

Hope for the best, but work on Plan B.

Out of curiosity...does sending the letter of continued interest + specific reasons even make a difference for the ADCOM?
