I start MS1 in a few days, and I have been getting toasted all summer in preparation for the coming Hell. ..while some hardcore students have been studying anatomy and stuff, the only anatomy I've studied were the females that I came across during my internship (however most of my "Physical exams" were very brief)

As the summer has gone on, I've decided I like alcohol a lot and would like to continue my habit of getting krunked almost weekly. Do med students pull it off? I don't want to be the "Class alcoholic" but I mean Residency won't have any free time to drink, so I am all about free living and meeting people and stuff, so .. ya know?

I'm not trying to encourage you, but people definitely pull it off. Some who are the "work hard, play hard" types still went out every weekend. And, there are the "play harder, barely pass, but that's ok" folks too. My main warning would be to make sure you don't do anything stupid (DUI, public intox, disorderly conduct, etc) because it WILL get back to your school.

Edit: And "pimping" means something else in med school 🙂

I refuse to date girls in my class. It's bad enough when your gf/bf is upset with you, much less to have her in your classes!! on the day of an exam!

I will limit the corousing and socializing to those pharm girls and the dentistry women. Some of the hygenists are really hot!

I was pissed drunk after most if not all of my "end of unit" exams, suffice it to say that I did well. If you can channel the self destruction, and limit it to post exams, you "should" be fine. Besides, I don't recommend getting pissed drunk, then going to lectures the next day.

Another advice, do not date a girl in your class, unless she's a piccoloplaya...

Hopefully, you'll seek some help with your alcoholism.

Oohh, yeah intra-class dating only works while you're dating and are in lovey-dovey mode. If and when you break up, you have to deal with the drama plus the whole school knowing and making smack comments about it. If you must date a med student, find someone in another class. Or even in another med school. There will still be gossip, but at least you will have different schedules.

As for me, I'm hopelessly attracted to guys in my class. They all seem like total players though (nuthin' wrong with dat) but not healthy for a relationship.

Oh who am I kidding. I'm dating my textbooks. Boo hoo wah wah!!!

We already have some "couples" in my M1 class (it's been a week). I find it rather middle schoolish....they are already exclusive, go everywhere together (show up late, leave early)...they touch eachother during class, etc etc. I'm thinking of starting a betting pool to see how long till full-fledged meltdown....

I will bet $5 on the breakup by mid-term. Some folks are really "deep." They need all of 1 week to fully appreciate a person enough to sleep with them or be exclusive.

It's a little different for me because we started 7/5/06 and the only class is gross anatomy (which is plenty to do when its only 6 or so weeks long) but I think I haven't been more intoxicated since my freshman year at Arizona State University High School.

Um no. Its more like a conversation that pauses for a year and then someone decides to pipe in as if the conversation (or players) are still going strong. At least one ought to identify that they are reviving a thread, rather than just continue the conversation.
